About Us

A brief bio of Will Fraser

Fugue State Films makes engaging and engrossing films about classical music for the discerning viewer. Our films are available digitally or in beautifully-produced multi-DVD boxsets.

Our films such as The Genius of Cavaillé-Coll, Maximum Reger and Bach and Expression have garnered excellent reviews, our favourite being: “You should buy this set. Mortgage your house, sell your relatives into slavery, but get it!” (Musicweb International).

We have won best DVD in the BBC Music Magazine Awards twice, the Deutschen Schallplattenkritikpreis three times, and we even made the six o’clock news in New Zealand.

Will Fraser grew up in the west of England and the east of Canada. He was educated at three contrasting universities, Dalhousie in Canada, Cambridge in the UK, and the University of Mississippi in the USA. He is a musician, writer and film-maker. He has won awards for the classical music documentaries he makes through Fugue State Films (BBC Music Magazine “best DVD” twice, and the Deutschenschallplattenkritikpreis three times).

These music films include Martinikerk Rondeau, The Genius of Cavaillé-Coll and Maximum Reger. He is fascinated by America and has made three films about the country so far – Soul Searching for the Blues, Once Upon a Time in Knoxville and Cowboy and Preacher: the Life and Times of Tri Robinson. This last film premiered in Hollywood at the 2018 Dances with Films festival.
